Hiroko and Ben were married last month at the Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach. Being that Hiroko is from Japan, they chose to wear traditional kimonos for their wedding.
I was excited to photograph my first Buddhist wedding ceremony and a bride in a pink kimono! During the ceremony the priest lit incense, served the couple tea, and did a few other things I hadn’t seen before.
So sweet! Hiroko’s mom beaming with joy! A lot of Hiroko’s family traveled here from Japan. It’s amazing how friendly and nice people can be regardless of a language barrier. Smiles say so much.
It was raining so the wedding ceremony was held indoors. Luckily there were large windows and a great view despite being indoors. During our portrait walk we had to stay indoors. I included some of the photos in the lightbox below. Spanish Bay is known for it stunning golf course and gorgeous views of the Monterey Bay. There is also a Roy’s restaurant in the lobby. Another reason why I must go back soon!
The wedding cake had a rabbit cake topper and cherry blossoms, perfect. In addition to cake, the guests also received a an assortment of cookies brought by Ben’s family from Pennsylvania. I guess that is a dutch wedding tradition, one I hadn’t heard of before.
Other wedding vendors on the scene were Evan from DNA Entertainment and Judy Raible, wedding coordinator. Judy only coordinates weddings when she is not busy with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The flowers and cake were both supplied by the Inn at Spanish Bay.
Congratulations Ben and Hiroko!
